On a chilly Sunday, 11 July, the Chalbi team from NIS braved the elements to emerge victorious in the group category at the International Pistol Shooting Confederation (IPSC) fixture, held at the Jockey Club shooting range in Ngong Racecourse.
The event, sponsored by Seagas Ltd and Site Systems Ltd, was a ladies-only shooting contest that brought together Defence Forces ladies, media houses, and corporate industry individuals to compete for podium positions.
First lady Major General Fatma Ahmed graced the event, taking a swipe at the contest by using a shotgun. The ladies-only shoot aims to encourage more women from the defence forces and civilians to join the sport.
Among the winners was Irene Ndunda of KDF, who danced to the podium after winning the individual's category champion, pocketing a cash prize of 100,000 shillings and a trophy. Belinda Akoth of Recce followed in second place, while Irene Wanjiku from GSU finished third.
Other winners included Elizabeth Cherono in the civilian category, Rotuno Kwonyike in the media category, and KQ in the corporate industry category.
