Kenya's Malkia Strikers Begin Pre-Games Training in Japan

Kenya's national volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, has begun their pre-games training in Kurume City, Japan, ahead of the tournament.

On their first day of training, the team beat Nigerians in three sets, 25-15, 25-21, and 25-12, securing their spot in the tournament.

The team consists of 12 members, selected from a pool of 20 talented players.

The team members include middle blockers Edith Mukuvilani, Violet Makuto, Gladys Ekaru, Lorine Chebet, Liberos Elizabeth Wanyama and Agripina Kundu, setters Jane Wacu, Joy Lusenaka, and Emmaculate Nekesa, left attackers Mercy Moim, Noel Murambi, Leonida Kasaya, and Pamela Jepkirui, and opposite players Sharon Chepchumba, Emmaculate Chemtai, and Pamela Adhiambo.

Kenya's volleyball team last participated in the Olympics in 2004 in Athens, Greece, marking a 16-year hiatus. However, the team is now returning to the Olympics, and their determination is evident in their rigorous training.

The team has settled in at the New Plaza Hotel in Kurume City, Japan, and is expected to continue their training in preparation for the tournament.
