Traditional Wedding Celebrations ¶
On July 11, 2021, Muthoni Mukiri and her boyfriend Isaac took their relationship to the next level by holding a traditional wedding ceremony, known as Ruracio. The ceremony was a colorful celebration attended by friends and family, including Lillian Muli, Shix Kapienga, Teacher Wanjiku, Nessy Mukiri, and Ruby Crown.
According to Kikuyu tradition, a Ruracio is a ceremony where the groom and his family take a token of appreciation to the bride-to-be's home, marking the official acceptance of a marriage proposal before the couple holds their church wedding.
Photos from the ceremony, shared on Instagram by Velos photography, show the happy couple surrounded by loved ones, including Muthoni's mother. The ceremony was also attended by popular media personalities, including Lillian Muli, who congratulated the couple on social media.
"Congratulations to this beautiful friend of mine @muthoniwamukiri," Lillian Muli wrote on Instagram. "#ruracio #traditionalceremony #Ruracio"
Muthoni Mukiri also took to her Instagram page to share photos from the ceremony, expressing her gratitude to her boyfriend Isaac and the event organizers, Ecoworld Events. "Thank you @ecoworld_events. You did an amazing job. My event was very beautiful and well organised," she captioned the photos.
The couple went public with their affair in January this year, after Muthoni put out their photos rocking matching outfits. A Ruracio is usually held before the couple holds their church wedding, marking the official acceptance of a marriage proposal by the bride's family.
