On July 10, 2021, a tip-off from a public service vehicle operator led police in Nairobi to seize a 25kg consignment of explosives in Eastleigh's 10th Street.

Acting on the tip, police from Pangani arrested the consignor, Collins Odiambo, who had delivered the goods destined for Moyale.

The explosives had arrived from Migori for onward relay to Moyale.

According to Starehe Police boss Julius Kiragu, the suspect was being held for questioning, and it was unclear why he had concealed the explosives as spare parts.

Collins Odiambo told detectives that the explosives were intended for use in a quarry, but police said he lacked a license to transport such explosives.

Despite initial concerns, detectives had ruled out terror links, and an investigation into the matter remained active.
