Gor Mahia is on the hunt for a new head coach after parting ways with Carlos Manuel vaz Pinto, who led the team to their first Football Kenya Federation Cup in nine years just a week ago.

Published on July 10, 2021, the club announced the departure of the Portuguese coach on Twitter, citing mutual consent. However, sources close to the club suggest that vaz Pinto has landed a better deal and chosen to leave due to the team's financial struggles.

The team's financial woes have been exacerbated by their sponsors Betsafe reducing their sponsorship package. Despite this, vaz Pinto's departure comes as a surprise, given the team's recent success under his leadership.

Under vaz Pinto's guidance, Gor Mahia won the FKF Cup title on Sunday, defeating arch-rivals AFC Leopards on penalties. However, their hopes for the league title were dashed when they lost 2-1 to league leaders Tusker FC, leaving them 11 points behind.

Assistant coach Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo will take charge of the team until a new coach is appointed.
