On July 9, 2021, a tragic incident occurred at the Kiminini Market in Trans Nzoia County, Kenya. Phanice Chemutai, a local woman, was shot in the abdomen by a licensed gun holder who mistakenly believed she was Caroline Kangogo, a rogue cop on the run.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunman, identified as Ken Muyundo, a prominent businessman, had received several calls from an unknown woman, allegedly Kangogo, instructing him to meet her at the market. Muyundo, who runs several hotels in Kitale, arrived at the scene and shot Chemutai in broad daylight.
However, it was later discovered that the woman was not Kangogo, but Chemutai, who is now in a critical condition at a Kitale hospital. The incident has sparked concerns about the safety of the public, particularly men, who have been warned by the police to be cautious of Kangogo, who is considered armed and dangerous.
Caroline Kangogo is wanted in connection with the deaths of two men, constable Ogweno of Nakuru and Peter Ndwiga of Juja. The police have urged the public to report any sightings of Kangogo, who is believed to be on the run.
