Kenya's Covid-19 Positivity Rate Drops to 9.3%

On July 9, 2021, Kenya reported 452 new Covid-19 cases, with a positivity rate of 9.3%, down from the previous day's rate of 10.3%.

Nairobi County led the way with 169 new cases, followed by Mombasa with 36 cases, and Uasin Gishu with 27 cases.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe confirmed that the new cases were detected after testing 4,876 samples over the last 24 hours.

As of July 9, 2021, a total of 187,977 people had been confirmed positive for Covid-19, with 2,006,662 cumulative tests conducted.

Of the new cases, 128 patients were admitted to intensive care units, with 40 on ventilatory support, 58 on supplemental oxygen, and 30 on observation.

Additionally, 201 patients were on supplemental oxygen, with 174 in general wards and 27 in high dependency units.

The Ministry of Health reported 1,327 discharged patients, with 55 from health facilities and 1,272 from home-based care.

Two patients had succumbed to the disease, bringing the cumulative fatalities to 3,718.

As of July 9, 2021, a total of 1,530,551 vaccines had been administered across the country, with 1,025,427 first doses and 505,124 second doses.
