On Thursday, Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, spoke to a local radio station and addressed claims that he had said he had only 'one bullet' in reference to running for the 2017 presidential election.

According to Raila, he was eligible to run for presidency again without declaring he will be in the contest next year.

“Who is that saying I have only one bullet? I have never said I have only one bullet. In fact, I have a full magazine,” he said.

Raila dismissed claims that he was banking on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s support, stating that he did not depend on endorsements in his life.

“I am not looking for an endorsement from anyone. My whole political career has been about service to the people, not endorsements,” he said.

He also expressed confidence that the country still had a chance to hold a referendum, stating that there was still time for a referendum with a year to elections.

“There is still time for a referendum. We have a year to elections. It can be done even if it gets to December…nothing stops us from doing so,” the ODM leader said.
