Media personality Moses Mathenge, alias DJ Moz, has made headlines for choosing to undergo a vasectomy. The gospel DJ revealed his decision in a recent discussion on contraception.
According to DJ Moz, he and his wife had numerous conversations about family planning, with the burden of using contraceptives largely falling on her.
‘I’m married and I have been for 13 years. The reality is that the burden of family planning had always been on my wife. Na pia mimi nilikuwa ule msee wa CD haibambi (I honestly did not enjoy using a condom), not that there is anything wrong with using a condom for contraception,’ he noted.
His wife had been taking the pill for an extended period, which was affecting her health. The couple had agreed that it was time to stop, and they had three children. Vasectomy became an option for them.
During the discussion, fellow panelist DNG asked if DJ Moz had undergone the procedure. He responded, ‘Mimi nimewai! (I’ve gotten the surgery) And I’m functioning as normal. Let me say this, I’m glad that at home my wife and I were talking about it, and let me encourage all married men out there to have this conversation with their wives.’
His decision comes after a heated debate sparked by former radio presenter Nick Ndenda, who revealed he had undergone a vasectomy after announcing his breakup with his seven-year wife Muthoni Gitau.
