On July 5, 2021, Peter Ndwiga, a businessman from Kiambu County, was shot in the head at Dedamax Hotel in Juja, Kiambu County. The investigation into his murder is ongoing, with detectives pursuing two theories: a love triangle and a business deal gone sour.

Ms Purity Wandiri, 37, Ndwiga's ex-wife, claims he left her in 2013, just when their family business was starting to flourish. The couple had been running a wholesale shop in Kiritiri, Embu County, but Ndwiga relocated to Thika and later to Nairobi, where he founded the Superb Security Group.

Speaking to the Nation at General Kago Funeral Home in Thika, where the post-mortem examination took place, Ms Wandiri said, 'Ndwiga married me in 2006 and we later had a church wedding at the local branch of Full Gospel Church. Everything was fine with our marriage. The wholesale shop in Kiritiri was also beginning to flourish. That is when my husband left us.'

Ms Wandiri, who still lives in Mbeere, Embu County, has been raising their 13-year-old daughter since Ndwiga left her. She recalled Ndwiga as a shrewd businessman with vast business networks, but said his biggest undoing was bad company and how he managed his wealth.

However, Ms Wandiri found out at the mortuary that Ndwiga was in another relationship and had two children with his new wife, Margaret Wambui. Ms Wambui refused to be interviewed by the media, and there was an air of animosity between the two women.

Detetctives from Juja are pursuing two theories to get to the bottom of Ndwiga's murder puzzle. They are exploring the possibility that the murder could have resulted from a business deal gone sour, including a car sale deal between Ndwiga and Ms Kangogo.
