As the weekend approaches, Kenyans are advised to prepare for a colder and wetter weather, with the Kenya Meteorological Department warning of showers and thunderstorms in various parts of the country.
Published on July 9, 2021, the department cautioned residents to dress warmly and consume hot beverages to keep warm.
According to the weatherman, several regions including Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma, and Kisumu are expected to experience showers and thunderstorms on Friday afternoon.
Other areas such as Kisii, Siaya, Homabay, Kericho, Nandi, Bomet, Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Trans-Nzoia, and Narok will also experience similar weather conditions.
The department attributed an increase in cases of respiratory illnesses to the cold weather in June and warned of increased cases of flu and common cold in Nairobi, parts of the Rift Valley, and Central Kenya.
Nairobi is expected to experience rains with cool and cloudy conditions, which will flow to the counties of Baringo, Nakuru, Narok, and Laikipia.
The Lake Basin will experience sunny mornings, while the highlands of the West of the Rift Valley will remain cloudy.
