Published on July 9, 2021, Raila Odinga, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, has been receiving warnings from Kenyans about his outspoken stance on corruption.

According to Odinga, he has received numerous calls and messages on social media, urging him to tone down his remarks on corruption due to safety concerns.

He clarified that his stance on corruption is not part of his campaign agenda for the 2022 presidential bid, but rather a genuine concern for the country's development.

"This is in no way the agenda for my 2022 political bid, I'm just saying that corruption has become too rampant in our nation and it needs to stop because it is the sole reason why development projects in Kenya are stalling," Odinga stated.

He also revealed that some individuals have sent emissaries to ask him to slow down and quit the talks on corruption, fearing that he might be offending corrupt individuals in the republic.

However, Odinga insisted that he would not pipe down on the matter, stating that he cannot keep quiet about the rampant corruption in government.

"I cannot keep quiet because that is not the Kenya I want. But if they have decided that they would rather have the rampant corruption then I will be glad to sit at home and let them run the country to ruin," Odinga said.
