A Nairobi businessman has been charged with a serious crime after allegedly assaulting a female employee at a company office in Kilimani, Nairobi.
The incident occurred on June 29, 2021, at Property World International offices along Raphta Road. According to the police report, the accused, Ajay Magon, 56, pushed the victim, Carolyne Achieng Ongaya, while holding her breasts.
Carolyne, a Personal Assistant to the Director of the company, Ashish Magon, had been summoned by Ajay the previous day to accompany him to town to buy household goods. She was then made to wait outside an office in Upperhill for hours before being authorized to go home by her boss, who was in the UK at the time.
The following day, Carolyne reported to work at 8 am, only to be met with hostility from Ajay. He had become violent and was shouting at everyone working in the compound. He also stopped Carolyne from entering the gate.
Carolyne then asked Ajay to allow her to collect some medication she had left in his car the previous day, but he refused. He instead pushed her while grabbing her breasts and hurling insults at her.
"The suspect pushed her by holding her breasts and forced her out," the police report reads.
Bystanders came to her rescue and she thereafter filed a report at Kilimani Police station, where she was advised to seek medical treatment. Carolyne also told police that the accused has been sexually harassing her.
Ajay pleaded not guilty, claiming that Carolyne went to his place of residence and started demanding that she enters his house. He was released on a bond of Ksh200,000 or cash bail of Ksh100,000.
