President Uhuru Kenyatta has been actively engaging with Jubilee candidates ahead of the 15th July by-elections. On 8th July, he hosted Jubilee candidate for the Kiambaa parliamentary by-election, Kariri Njama, at State House in Nairobi.
According to Jubilee Party's social media posts, the President and Njama had a good time during the meeting. The party wrote on Facebook, "The Party Leader with Hon. Kariri Njama #JubileeKiambaa. Tuko set! Tuko strong. Only 6 days to go. Let’s meet at the ballot."
The State House visit comes just six days before the two mini-polls, with the big battle in Kiambaa being between Njama and Deputy President William Ruto-linked United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) John Njuguna Wanjiku.
Unlike in the recent Juja parliamentary by-election, where Jubilee candidate Susan Waititu was whitewashed by DP Ruto-backed George Koimburi, this time round the ruling party is leaving nothing to chance. Top Jubilee officials and influential party activists have been camping at the constituency to drum up support for Njama.
