On July 7, 2021, Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi expressed his support for Christian Eriksen, the Denmark midfielder who suffered a cardiac arrest during the Euro 2020 defeat by Finland on June 12.

According to Inzaghi, he will welcome Eriksen back with 'open arms' once the 29-year-old former Tottenham playmaker recovers from his ordeal.

After spending several days in hospital, Eriksen had a defibrillator implanted to regulate his heartbeat, leaving his prospects of resuming his career in doubt.

However, Inter Milan is set to undergo medical tests on Eriksen to determine the feasibility of his return to professional football in Italy.

When asked about Eriksen's future, Inzaghi said, 'For now, he needs to rest, but as Inter coach I wait for him with open arms.'

He added, 'I spoke to him before the Euro, not since his accident. He's a player who I would count on.'
