On July 8, 2021, Nairobi-based entertainer DJ Moz, real name Moses Kimathi, made a significant decision for his family's future. He opted for a vasectomy, a surgical procedure that has become an option for men who want to share the burden of family planning with their partners.

According to DJ Moz, he noticed his wife was experiencing complications related to birth control, which led him to consider a vasectomy. However, he emphasized the importance of getting his wife's consent before undergoing the procedure.

"I am married and I have been for 13 years. The reality is that the burden of family planning had always been on my wife. My wife had been on the pill for the longest time and it was also not good for her, and I knew it was affecting her," DJ Moz explained in an interview with Capital FM's Valentine Njoroge.

With three kids, DJ Moz and his wife had come to a point where they needed to stop the cycle. A vasectomy became an option, and he termed the surgery as successful, adding that he still functions just like his other men.

The decision to undergo a vasectomy has sparked a heated debate among men, with some seeing it as a way to share the burden of family planning with their partners. DJ Moz's experience serves as a reminder that men can also take an active role in family planning.
