Manchester City are gearing up for their title defence, but manager Pep Guardiola has ruled out buying a new striker to replace Sergio Aguero. The team's financial struggles have made it impossible for them to meet the asking prices of potential targets.
Guardiola made the comments in an interview with Catalan network TV3, stating that all clubs are struggling financially, including Manchester City. He pointed out that the team already has Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres who have performed well in the striker position.
"At the prices (quoted) we are not going to buy any strikers. It is impossible, we cannot afford it," Guardiola said.
The team is set to begin their title defence on August 15 when they travel to Tottenham. Despite the lack of a new striker, Guardiola remains optimistic about the team's chances, citing the young players in the academy and the team's ability to play with a false nine.
