On July 7, 2021, the family of Catherine Chemutai Kangogo, a fugitive police killer, finally spoke out about the incidents surrounding their daughter. The mother, Leah Jepkosgei Kangogo, said, 'She should not have killed the two people however much she was harangued. She should have consulted us on any issue that is disturbing her.'

The father, Barnaba Kipkoech Korir, urged his daughter to present herself to the police, saying, 'She should surrender to police because he is an officer who knows what the law is. It is important that she surrenders to police.'
