July 1, 2019, will be etched in the memory of Nairobi Diaries actress Mishi Dora as a day of unimaginable horror. It was the day she was shot, run over, and left for dead by a man she knew.

According to Mishi Dora, the incident occurred in 2014, and it has left her with multiple pelvic bone fractures, torn ligaments, and a broken left hip bone. She was rushed to the hospital and spent time in the ICU, only to face another attempt on her life.

"This man was out here to kill me… he shot at me… ran me over by a car and drove off leaving me for dead," Mishi Dora recounted in a heart-wrenching account.

What makes Mishi Dora's story even more disturbing is the fact that the man responsible for her ordeal has been seen socializing with her friends and acquaintances, who have been twisting the story to suit their own interests.

"He looked at me as if we’ve never met before… I was so scared… I was sweating and shaking all over my body.. my heart was racing… it hurts me seeing people that I know twisting the story and mingling with the guy," Mishi Dora said.

Despite the trauma she has endured, Mishi Dora has chosen to speak out, not just for herself, but for all those who have been silenced by their abusers. "I’m not a coward… and I’m gonna speak about it… I have a voice… My question is.. if I’m a public figure and I can’t get justice.. how many people are out there dying in silence.. no one to speak for them… no one to fight for them…No one to help them get justice… or is it because he is part of the government so us we just OTHERS… like the saying goes “HII KENYA INAWENYEWE… I’ll not keep quiet till justice is served…"

Mishi Dora has also spoken about the bullying she has faced since posting pictures of her scars, and how she has had to tattoo her legs to cover them up. "I even had to tattoo my legs (which most of the people think it’s for beauty) just to cover the scars there coz I got bullied most of the times that I posted pictures and the scars showed…"

As Mishi Dora continues to fight for justice, she has released a picture of the man behind the accusation, but his side of the story remains unknown.
