Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka has offered to support his unborn child after a pregnant woman sued him for Sh25 million.

Through his lawyer, Peter Wanyama, Lusaka acknowledged that the unborn child is his and expressed willingness to take care of it.

Wanyama told the court that out-of-court settlement talks are underway, with Lusaka agreeing to provide for the child's upkeep.

However, the lawyer disputed a request by the woman's lawyer, Danstan Omari, for Lusaka to pay the Sh25 million to enable the woman to buy a house within seven days.

Wanyama argued that it is impossible to raise such a large amount of money due to the harsh economic situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The matter has been directed to be mentioned on July 28 to confirm the update and status of the out-of-court settlement talks.
