On July 2, 2021, a shooting incident occurred at Quiver Lounge in Kasarani, Nairobi, where two police officers and a woman were shot by Dickson Njanja Mararo.

According to investigating officer Geoffrey Ndatho, the suspect armed with a firearm shot three people at the club, leaving two police officers, Constable Lawrence Mururi and Constable Festus Musyoka, and a waitress, Felistas Nzisa, injured.

The victims were rushed to hospital, where Constable Mururi was treated and discharged, while Constable Musyoka, who was shot in the neck, remains in critical condition at Nairobi Hospital, and Nzisa, who was shot in the abdomen, has been discharged and is recuperating at home.

After the shooting, the suspect ran away from the scene of the crime and went into hiding until July 5, 2021, when he surrendered to the police. A Glock semi-automatic pistol and 38 rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered from the suspect.

On July 7, 2021, Milimani Magistrate Zainab Abdul granted the police a week to detain Njanja at Muthaiga police station to enable police to complete the probe in the matter.

Abdul ruled that a proper case had been made to detain the suspect and that the 14-day period earlier sought by police was too long. She noted that the suspect's character after the incident did not favour him, as he went underground and only surrendered to the police three days later.
