Published on July 7, 2021, a Sh154 million Level 4 hospital is being constructed at Mai Mahiu in Nakuru to improve health services.
County Acting Director for Public Health, Lilian Muyale, assessed the project's progress, stating that the hospital will help reduce congestion at Naivasha Sub-County and Nakuru Level 5 hospitals.
The facility, expected to be complete in November, will be a significant boost to the government's initiative to offer Universal Health Coverage (UHC) under the Big 4 Agenda.
According to Muyale, the hospital will offer a range of medical services, including modern state-of-the-art theatres, laboratories, X-rays, imaging centers, and pharmacies.
The hospital's completion will also reduce the distances patients travel to access specialized health services and enhance the county's response to medical emergencies.
Furthermore, the project will improve healthcare services for residents of surrounding counties who will be referred to the facility.
Recently, the county government employed over 300 healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, clinicians, and laboratory technicians, to ensure the delivery of quality health services across the region.
