On July 7, 2021, police in Nakuru were left stunned after the brutal murder of police Constable John Ogweno, whose body was found inside his car with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to preliminary investigations, Ogweno, 28, and his lover, Corporal Carolyne Kangogo, 34, had been entangled in a web of illicit affairs with multiple partners.
Police say Kangogo, the main suspect in the murder, had been in communication with several individuals who are on the police radar for various crimes.
As detectives intensified their search for Kangogo, who fled after the incident, they discovered that she had been in a relationship with multiple men, including some senior police officers.
Anthony Sunguti, the Nakuru County lead criminal investigations officer, revealed that detectives have reason to believe that Ogweno could have died at the hands of one or several people in the web.
"The woman is known to have several other men, and we have gathered information that two of them met at her house on the night of the murder," Sunguti said.
Investigations also revealed that Kangogo is married to a senior police officer attached to the maritime police department in Mombasa County and has two children aged seven and five.
One of her colleagues described Kangogo as a woman feared by many police officers due to her history of causing problems for her lovers.
