On a night visit to Mukuru kwa Njenga, President Kenyatta, dressed in a military jungle green jacket, walked into Ruben FM radio station, catching the presenters and staff off guard.
According to footage obtained by Pulse Live, the presenter remained on air and introduced the surprise guest, with the two sharing a few moments together.
“You'll come (to State House) and will do a proper interview,” Uhuru told the presenter, adding that it would be easy for the Head of State to get in touch with him even though they didn’t exchange contacts.
“That was President Uhuru Kenyatta dear listeners and we have been live talking one on one,” the Ruben FM radio host said on air.
President Kenyatta's visit to the radio station was part of his efforts to connect with the residents of Mukuru kwa Njenga, who have been benefiting from the Nairobi Metropolitan Services' (NMS) transformation of the slum into a more dignified living space.
Earlier this year, NMS Director General Mohammed Badi and President Kenyatta had visited the slum together, where they witnessed the deplorable living conditions and decided to take action.
During the visit, President Kenyatta also completed the opening of 5 hospitals in Nairobi, which were operational at all times, and he made the decision to open them at night to ensure they were operational 24/7.
