On July 7, 2021, a court in Meru heard a case involving two young men accused of stealing Sh12,223,060 from Transnation Sacco.
Paul Mwenda Kubai and Moses Gitene Mwongera, a Meru County government staff, denied multiple counts of theft and conspiracy before Principal Magistrate Edward Tsimonjero.
The court heard that the two men conspired to defraud Transnation Sacco by transferring and withdrawing money from various accounts to an account belonging to Mwongera.
They also denied stealing Sh12,223,060 from the Sacco's Chogoria Branch in Tharaka Nithi County, and Kubai denied stealing as a Credit Officer at the same branch.
Mwongera further denied handling stolen property and Kubai denied making false entries in the Sacco's records.
The case will be mentioned on June 8th for pre-trial and fixing of a hearing date.
