This archive report was first published on 7 July 2021.

On July 2, 2021, at around 0030 hours, five suspects were found in possession of items that suggested they were planning to commit a crime at Angle Kenda House Bar and Restaurant in Nairobi.

The suspects, Reuben Njukia Ngunyu, Charles Mugo Njokia, Jesse Muruiki Murumia, Fredrick Muderwa Anaya, and Gabriel Mugai Muthoni, were produced before Milimani chief magistrate Martha Mutuku.

They were charged with preparing to commit a felony and breaking into a building, with the state counsel objecting to their release on bail or bond pending trial.

The prosecutor argued that releasing the suspects, especially the first accused Reuben Njukia, would be aiding him to continue with his normal criminal activities, as he had a similar case before the court in 2020.

The suspects have been detained pending bail determination.
