On July 4, 2021, a tragic incident occurred in Nakuru when Constable John Ogweno was found dead at Kasarani Police Line. The murder is believed to have happened at around 2:30 am, with the killer shooting Ogweno at close range through the driver's window.
According to reports, the suspect, Corporal Caroline Kangogo, was married to a senior police officer and had a complicated relationship with Ogweno. An altercation is said to have ensued on Sunday night after the senior officer discovered Kangogo and Ogweno together at her house.
County Deputy Police Commander Joseph Tonui noted that Ogweno's firearm, a Ceska pistol, was missing from the scene. An empty 9mm cartridge, a stone used to smash the car window, and an iron bar were recovered as exhibits.
Police have issued a report urging Kenyans to share any information regarding Kangogo's whereabouts, describing her as 'armed and dangerous.'
