Published on July 6, 2021, a 28-year-old man in Kirinyaga County has been arrested for allegedly sodomizing a 7-year-old boy on his way home from school.
The incident occurred in Ngariama ward, Gichugu Constituency, where the young boy, a grade 2 pupil, was walking home from school.
According to Kirinyaga East Subcounty police Commander Antony Mbogo, the area chief took swift action upon learning of the incident, arresting the suspect and handing him over to the police.
Commander Mbogo has advised parents to escort their children to school, especially in the morning hours, to protect them from falling prey to sexual predators.
He noted that incidents of defilement within Kirinyaga East have been on the rise in recent times.
