On April 26, 2021, just four days after the death of her 61-year-old Asian sponsor, Pankajkumar Juthalal Dodhia, a Kitale socialite known as Shay Diva Africa allegedly accessed his National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) account and transferred ownership of his Toyota Land Cruiser 200, registration number KCK 466N, to herself.
The vehicle, a Toyota V8 pearl white in colour, was said to have been gifted to Shay Diva Africa by her late sponsor, but the family of the deceased contested this claim, stating that the vehicle was given to her on a 'use and return basis' while they were in a relationship.
According to NTSA records, Shay Diva Africa logged into the TIMs account at 11.45 PM on April 26 and made a transfer of the logbook, but there were no supporting documents from the owner to authorize the transfer.
She was subsequently tracked to Kitengela where she lives, and the vehicle was towed to Buruburu and later to Kitale Police Stations, where she was arrested while attempting to recover it.
