Kenya's Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, with 400 people testing positive in the last 24 hours. This brings the total confirmed cases to 186,453, out of 1,989,066 cumulative tests conducted.
According to MOH, the positivity rate now stands at 7.9%, with 386 of the infected being Kenyans and 14 being foreigners. The age range of the infected individuals is from a 12-day-old infant to a 97-year-old.
MOH also reported that 354 patients have recovered from the disease, with 259 being from the Home Based and Isolation Care program and 95 from various health facilities countrywide. The total recoveries now stand at 29,165, with 93,650 being from Home Based Care and Isolation program and 35,515 from various health facilities.
Unfortunately, 7 patients have succumbed to the disease, all of whom were late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in June 2021. The cumulative fatalities now stand at 3,697.
County-wise distribution shows that Nairobi had the highest number of cases at 155, followed by Kilifi with 43 cases. Other counties with significant cases include Uasin Gishu, Siaya, Kiambu, and Mombasa.
