On 6 July 2021, Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Africa's largest fibre company, announced a partnership with Facebook to expand the digital corridor in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The fibre network, spanning 2,000 kilometres, will connect the DRC to its neighbouring countries, including Angola, Congo Brazzaville, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, creating a digital corridor from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean.

Facebook will invest in the fibre build and support network planning, while Liquid Technologies will own, build, and operate the fibre network, providing wholesale services to mobile network operators and internet service providers.

The project is expected to improve internet access for more than 30 million people and meet the growing demand for regional connectivity across Central Africa.

Additionally, the fibre company will employ over 5,000 people from local communities to build the fibre network, making Facebook one of the biggest investors in fibre networks in the region.

Liquid Intelligent Technologies is a pan-African technology group present in more than 20 countries, mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa, with an extensive network covering over 100,000 kilometres.
