On a typical day in Nairobi, traffic congestion is a common sight. However, for motorists, it's not just the jams that are a concern, but also the rising cases of theft of car parts, particularly side mirrors, wheel caps, and wind visors.

According to Nairobi News, a video clip shared on social media by a motorist who was behind the targeted vehicle captured a suspect attempting to steal a side mirror from a red car stuck in traffic.

The suspect's efforts were, however, unsuccessful, as he appeared to panic and ran away into the traffic snarl-up ahead.

On Friday, the suspect was paraded in front of the media at Kamukunji police station, where he was arrested and charged with theft.

Police did not disclose how they managed to track and arrest the suspect, but they have vowed to crack down on car part thieves in the city.

Nairobi Central Sub-County Police Commander John Nyamu warned that police will shoot at any armed suspect who defies orders to surrender.

Meanwhile, Nairobi County police commander Augustine Nthumbi announced the deployment of a multi-agency team to deal with the rising cases of muggings and robberies in the city.

Plainclothes officers have been given orders to address the increased crime rate within the shortest time possible, and bodaboda operators have been warned against taking part in criminal activities.
