On July 5, 2021, Nick Ndeda and Muthoni Gitau, a Kenyan YouTube content creator couple, made a joint announcement on their shared YouTube channel, revealing that their seven-year relationship had come to an end.
According to the video, Nick acknowledged that he had been less proactive in pursuing their shared goals, while Muthoni had been shouldering most of the effort.
Muthoni stated that she intends to explore the dating pool, having entered the relationship at 23 and skipped that experience.
‘After 7 years, this feels like the best decision for both of us. The plan is to grow and heal as individuals as we evaluate what we want moving forward,’ the couple stated on their YouTube platform.
The two clarified that their YouTube channel would continue running under Muthoni's management, while Nick focuses on his personal projects.
‘This decision was not made overnight. It has been three months of thinking and talking to professionals. There are also certain external factors that have contributed to the decision,’ Muthoni said.
‘There are also certain people that made the decision very easy, certain people... I know they are watching so that they can make phone calls, do it!’ Muthoni added.
Despite their separation, Nick and Muthoni maintained a united front against haters and trolls, stating that they were on good terms and would not badmouth each other.
