On July 2, 2021, at around 0030 hours, five suspects were found at Angle Kenda house bar and restaurant along Ukwala lane in Nairobi, with tools that suggested they were planning to break into a shop.

Reuben Njukia, Charles Mugo, Jesse Muruiki, Fredrick Muderwa, and Gabriel Mugai were arrested and charged with two counts of committing a felony and breaking into a building to commit a felony.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects were found in four lodging rooms preparing to break into Prime Bank's OTC branch in Kamukunji.

Prosecutor Anderson Gikunda opposed the release of the accused on bail, citing a similar case against Reuben Njukia in 2020.

Magistrate Martha Mutuku released four of the accused on a cash bail of Sh300,000 or a bond of Sh1 million, but denied bail to Reuben Njukia, who will apply after six months.
