Positivity Rate at 9% as 185 Test Positive, 15 Die

On July 5, 2021, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that 185 more people had tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,047 tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases represented a positivity rate of 9 per cent, with 171 people being Kenyans and 14 foreigners.

Of the new cases, 112 were males and 73 were females.

Following the confirmation of the new cases, the total number of people who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the country stood at 186,053, while the cumulative tests done was at 1,983,998.

On a positive note, CS Kagwe announced 1,186 recoveries, with 1,102 being from the home-based and isolation care program, and 84 being treated in various hospitals countrywide.

The total number of recoveries now stood at 128,811, with 93,399 being from the home-based care and isolation program, and 35,412 being discharged from various hospitals.

Unfortunately, 15 patients had succumbed to the deadly pandemic, bringing the total number of deaths recorded in the country to 3,690.

CS Kagwe also announced that 1,151 patients were currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 5,426 patients were under home-based isolation and care program.
