Kenya: Jubilee Party Plans Rebrand Ahead of Coalition Talks ¶

The ruling Jubilee Party is planning to rebrand itself ahead of coalition talks with the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), with a new logo and colours to reflect the party's current political landscape.
According to sources, the party's National Management Committee (NMC) will meet on Monday and Tuesday to deliberate on the rebranding plan, which includes a new logo and colours.
Speaking to the Nation, Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju said that the party's technical team has been working on the rebranding plan, which will be presented to the NMC for approval.
"On any of the coalition issues, I can only talk after NMC has authorised me and so any statement I make can only come from either NMC or from the party leader since I don't express my opinions," Mr Tuju said.
He added that the party's current colours were derived from The National Alliance (TNA) of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the United Republic Party (URP) of Deputy President William Ruto, who have since broken ranks politically.
Deputy Secretary-General Joshua Kuttuny said that the party will also deliberate on a new look that will involve tweaking of colours, symbol and logo.
"The new logo and colours will capture present realities," Mr Kuttuny said.
Meanwhile, Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe said that the party is now clear with its road map to 2022 and is focusing on the post-Uhuru presidency.
"We agreed to reorganise a stronger Jubilee getting into an alliance," Mr Murathe said.
He added that the party is looking at a futuristic arrangement cognisant of the fact that you cannot be in a coalition now with partners who are already in other coalitions.
"We are not forming a coalition government but looking at a futuristic arrangement," Mr Murathe said.
