On July 5, 2021, a shooting incident at Quiver Lounge in Nairobi left three people injured. According to eyewitness Morris Mutua, the incident began when a Somali man entered the lounge with his girlfriend.
Mutua, a friend of the injured officers, claims that the man became agitated after one of the officers spoke to his girlfriend. The officer had gone to talk to the woman while the man was in the restroom.
When the man returned from the restroom, he found the officer speaking to his girlfriend, which allegedly angered him. A war of words ensued between the two men, prompting Mutua and the officer to intervene and try to calm the situation.
However, the situation escalated, and the three friends decided to leave the lounge to avoid a fight. As they were leaving, the Somali man followed them, leading to another brawl.
It was during this altercation that the Somali man pulled out a gun and fired several shots. CCTV footage from the lounge shows the perpetrator running after the first shot while still shooting his gun.
According to Mutua, the first shot was meant to hit him in the head but he ducked, and it hit one of his friends on the neck. The next shot hit another friend on the arm, and a lady who works at the lounge was also hit in the stomach.
The shooter managed to escape, and the police are tracking his car number plate to try and locate him. The injured were rushed to the hospital.
