On Sunday, June 27, 2021, Phoebe Muthoni's family embarked on a normal outing to Nyahururu. However, their day turned into a nightmare when they were hijacked by three men at gunpoint along the Nyeri-Nayhururu highway.

Phoebe Muthoni, the wife of Isaac Mwangi, 34, recounted the incident to the Sunday Nation at her home in Solio Village Three. She described how the men, who were in a Subaru Forester, waved at her husband to slow down before forcing him to stop.

Isaac Mwangi was taken into the Subaru, which had fake number plates (VT 00L), and his wife and daughter were left behind. The family later reported the incident to the police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

However, the family's ordeal was far from over. On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, Isaac Mwangi's cousins, Samuel Ngacha and Bernard Wanjohi, 40, were abducted in a similar incident. The three men were taken at gunpoint, leaving their families in a state of desperation.

Phoebe Muthoni has been pestering the police daily, wondering how long the process of finding her husband would take. She believes that the case of kidnapping should be a priority and that the police should at least provide some information about her husband's whereabouts.

As the family waits anxiously for news of Isaac Mwangi's safe return, they are left to wonder if they will ever see him again.
