On June 12, security analyst Mwenda Mbijiwe went missing while on his way to Meru, sparking a desperate search for the former Airforce Commander.

His mother, Jane Gatwiri, has appealed to the Kenyan government and international community for help in finding her son, citing concerns that the case has not been handled properly.

Speaking at her home in Sirimon, Buuri West, Meru County, Gatwiri expressed her frustration with the investigation, saying, "We are disturbed since the same people carrying out the investigations are the same people who recovered the vehicle."

She also questioned why the owner of the car her son had hired, Edward Mwangi, was allowed to have the vehicle back, given that Mwangi is an officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi, which is investigating her son's disappearance.

Furthermore, Gatwiri revealed that the woman who initially briefed the press on Mbijiwe's disappearance, Tamara Mbijiwe, is not related to her son, contrary to what was initially reported.
