On Saturday, July 3, 2021, the town of Eldoret was shaken by a disturbing discovery: the body of a one-year-old child, brutally mutilated, was found along River Sosiani.

According to local residents, this was not an isolated incident. Juma Akumu, a resident of Eldoret town, stated that cases of dead children abandoned in the area and along the river have been on the rise.

As the community grapples with this senseless violence, Akumu urged young mothers and residents to take care of the young children and, if unable, to seek help from children's homes.

Confirming the incident, Turbo sub-county police commander Edward Masibo assured the public that investigations would be carried out and urged members of the public to refrain from committing such heinous acts.

The body of the unidentified baby was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for further examination.
