On Saturday, July 3, 2021, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi launched his presidential bid, marking a significant step in his quest for the top seat in the 2022 General Elections.
At his home in Kanyuombora, Embu County, Muturi was joined by over 200 clergy from the Pentecostal churches, who gathered to show their support and pray for his success.
"It is very difficult to go talking about wanting to go and run for a second place, I don't believe in that. I'm very clear in my mind that with your supports, with your prayers we will be able to clinch that top seat," Muturi stated.
As the newly crowned Mt Kenya spokesman, Muturi emphasized the need for discipline and order in the country, urging the clergy to consider him as a top contender for the presidency.
His coronation as Mt Kenya Spokesman on May 22, 2021, has positioned him among leaders from the Mt Kenya region seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Muturi joins a growing list of presidential hopefuls, including Deputy President William Ruto, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Mukhisa Kituyi.
