On July 3, 2021, Athletics Kenya concluded a rigorous three-day trial period, selecting a team of 43 athletes to represent the country at the World Under-20 Championships. The championships will take place at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani in August.
The team consists of 24 men and 19 women, who will look to successfully defend the title won by Kenya in Tampere, Finland, three years ago.
According to Athletics Kenya's Head of Youth Development, Barnaba Korir, the selected team is 'very strong' and has the potential to successfully defend the title. Korir praised the event at the trials, stating that it provided an opportunity to assess technical and organizational needs for the competition.
The team is expected to report for training on July 15 and will enter a bubble camp at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani once the team for the Olympics leaves.
