On Friday, July 2, Senior Counsel John Khaminwa submitted his case on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) at the Court of Appeal. The following day, reports surfaced that police officers had visited his office.

However, in a statement to Kenyans.co.ke on Saturday, July 3, Khaminwa denied the reports, stating that imposters had stopped by and asked for money.

"They claimed to be police officers on duty but I did not get the impression that they were officers at all. They asked for money but we did not give them," Khaminwa stated.

It is worth noting that the reports of police visiting Khaminwa's office sparked a strong reaction from the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), which condemned the alleged intimidation.

"We have received worrying reports of police officers visiting the offices of Senior Counsel Khaminwa ostensibly for his submission in the BBI Appeal. Such retaliatory acts of intimidation have no place in our society," KHRC stated.

As reported earlier, Khaminwa had asked the court to turn its face against President Uhuru Kenyatta, blaming him for disrespecting the court.
