On the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, emphasized the importance of the party's leadership in the country's development.
Speaking at a UN General Assembly meeting on July 2, 2021, Zhang said, "The secret behind China's development is the commitment to the CPC leadership and exploration of a development path which is suited to its national conditions and has won broad support from the people."
China, the world's largest developing country, has made significant strides in economic and social development, according to Zhang. He attributed the country's achievements to the hard work of its people, who have built a moderately prosperous society and brought about a historic resolution to the problem of absolute poverty.
"Those achievements are not God-sent, still less a gift from others," Zhang stressed, highlighting the role of the CPC in China's development.
As China looks to the future, Zhang expressed confidence in the country's ability to overcome challenges and achieve its goals. "We are now marching in confident strides toward the second centenary goal and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," he said.
