Kenya's young sprinters are set to take the stage at the World Under 20 Championships, which will be held at the iconic Kasarani Stadium from August 17-22.

Among the top contenders are Sylvia Chelangat and Elkanah Kiprotich, who have been training hard to secure a spot on the podium.

Chelangat, a Form Four student at Lelu High School in Kericho, expressed her gratitude for her win, saying, "I'm happy to have won and I really thank God. It was competitive and though I started with a lot of tension but I made it. I need to work on my speed and balancing training and school has been a tricky affair but I thank my mentor Janeth Jepkosgei for the support."

Kiprotich, who trains in Ngong, is focused on the 100m event and is optimistic about his chances, saying, "For now, I will concentrate on 100m to make it. Let us hope for the best at the world under 20 Championships."
