On July 2nd, 2021, police in Nairobi foiled an attempted robbery at Prime Bank's OTC branch in downtown Nairobi.
Five men, identified as Charles Mulo, Fredrick Muderwa, Jesse Muriuki, Gabriel Mungai, and Reuben Njuka, were arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Kamukunji Police Station.
According to the DCI, the suspects had booked into guest rooms in a building that shares a wall with the bank and planned to drill their way in at night.
However, detectives got wind of the plan and stormed into the building, forcing the suspects to take cover in the ceiling.
With the suspects clinging to the roof trusses, the detectives brought the ceiling down, exposing them.
The suspects were then forced to surrender to the officers, who recovered various tools and equipment from the scene.
The suspects are being held at Kamukunji Police Station.
