On June 23rd, 2021, a Kenyan company, Viva Serenity, released a video documenting Wema Sepetu's weight loss journey, which included a revelation that she underwent a mini gastric bypass surgery in 2018.
According to the video, Viva Serenity, a renowned medical tourism company, facilitated Wema's travel and surgery, covering all medical and travel expenses.
Wema Sepetu had previously told her fans that she used pills from China to lose weight, but the video revealed that she underwent the surgery after signing a brand ambassadorship agreement with Viva Serenity.
Wema weighed 106Kg at the time of the surgery and confessed that she never saw herself weigh over 80Kg.
Earlier in 2018, Wema visited India for a checkup to assess her fertility levels, where a doctor advised her to lose some fat to get pregnant.
