On July 2, 2021, Nairobi County Assembly members initiated a motion to investigate the privatisation of five public schools in Nairobi.
The schools in question are Visa Oshwal, St. Peter's Clavers, Khalsa, Catholic Parochial, and the latest addition, St. Peter's Claver, which was taken over by the Catholic Church.
Nominated MCA Mary Ariviza stated that the county government had been 'sleeping on the job' regarding the privatisation of these schools.
Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has already taken legal action to have Visa Oshwal Primary School reverted to public ownership.
The motion has gained significant support from the majority of MCAs, who have vowed to engage with interested parties and ensure the schools are returned to public control.
