On June 28, 2021, a dramatic scene unfolded during the Tour de France cycling race in Brittany, France. A massive pile-up occurred when German rider Tony Martin rode straight into a cardboard sign held by a spectator, sending him tumbling and causing a chain reaction that affected numerous other riders.

The spectator, a 30-year-old Frenchwoman, was later arrested and placed in custody after presenting herself at a police station in Brittany. She is being sued for involuntarily causing injury and putting the life of others at risk, according to the local prosecutor's department.

Published on July 2, 2021, the local prosecutor, Camille Miansoni, stated that the woman had no prior police or justice records and expressed fear and shame over her actions, describing them as a moment of "idiocy".

The woman will face trial on October 14, 2021, for her alleged role in the crash.
