On June 28, 2021, a 16-year-old boy allegedly defiled a 6-year-old girl in the Murkwijit area of West Pokot County.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Samuel K. Mutai at the Kapenguria Law Court, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement under Section 8 (1) (2) of the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006.
He was also charged with an alternative offence of indecent act with the minor, allegedly touching her private parts in contravention of the Sexual Offences Act of 2006.
The court ordered the accused to be supplied with a statement for the case and an advocate to be appointed to act for him. The case will be mentioned on July 8, 2021, for a pre-trial.
Separately, in Kisumu, a 53-year-old man was released on a Sh200,000 bond and a surety of a similar amount by the Winam Law Court after pleading not guilty to defiling two 9-year-old minors at his home in Manyatta slums.
